How to Count Points in Hand

Count the cards that are not yet in valid groups. That running number is what you will pay if an opponent declares now. If it is ugly, drop.

CountUngrouped only.
Face10 each.
CapOften 80 on Points.

Live estimate

After every discard, glance at loose J Q K A. Three loose face cards is already 30, plus pips. Compare to middle-drop 40.

Grouped cards are safe

A finished pure sequence is 0 even if it uses an ace. The ace only costs if it is still loose.

Pool uses the same count

It just stacks. If your running dump is 50 and you sit at 60 on 101, the next dump can end you. Scoring is the full sheet.
