What is a Set in Rummy
A set is same rank, different suits. Three kings, four sevens. A joker can stand in. Two hearts of the same rank is not a set — Indian rummy uses two decks, so this trap is common.
Legal shape
K of hearts, K of spades, K of diamonds. Add a club king if the second deck dealt you one. A printed joker can stand for the missing suit.
Illegal shape
Two 9 of hearts plus a 9 of spades is not a clean set. Same-suit duplicates break the rule. Throw one 9 of hearts.
